One of the Wayne Dalton Reps handling the case, insisted on sending new torquemaster springs but claimed they had no control over the opener itself for replacement. Having read the information and directions, it was believed the iDrive Pro would remedy the ongoing problem of 7 years. The conflicting information creates a sense of alarm as to determine a units safe operation for being overloaded by a 18 foot door weighing nearly 300 pounds and the opener rated for a not more than 225 pound door. "The Max weight for the iDrive Pro is 300 pounds". However, the Spec Sheet for iDrive indicates the door "must not weight more then 225 pounds". The iDrive standard instructions claim that the a "door must not weight more then 304 pounds". Upon inquiry with Wayne Dalton via email exchange, an 18 foot door weighs about 275 pounds. Enclosed in the digital manuals an important note was found. The Wayne Dalton iDrive manuals were downloaded from the Wayne Dalton Site that covered the installation, troubleshooting etc of the openers. Then the all too familiar problems reoccurred. After the evaluation, tech support sent another iDrive out and it was installed using the methods required.Īgain the opener performed it's duties for awhile. Of course "Tech Support" puts you through a few mundane requirements to evaluate the Wayne Dalton iDrive opener but that seemed normal. After a couple years however, the opener would need to be replaced. Initially the door seemed to work fine and while only minor adjustments were needed initially. The door came with the TorqueMaster style counterbalance system. The door was installed using the manufacturers hardware. In 2003 a Wayne Dalton model 9100 18x7 Garage Door and iDrive was purchased at Lowes Inc.
